We’ll be at Booth 400 all week, spreading the good news about SoundExchange and helping artists and rights holders register to get their share of digital performance royalties.

SXSW showcases artists and labels have unclaimed royalties at SoundExchange- do you?

                SoundExchange, the non-profit performance rights organization, has released this list of artists  showcasing at South By Southwest (SXSW) this month who are owed digital performance royalties, but have not registered to receive them. Labels and copyright holders associated with these artists also have significant amounts of unclaimed royalties.  SoundExchange is required by law to collect these royalties on behalf of artists and copyright holders (like ASCAP, BMI and SESAC do for songwriters and publishers), but can’t send out the checks without the necessary information. If you’re a recording artist or you own rights to sound recordings, SoundExchange may have money waiting for you, too!

The piece, aimed at easing the concerns of broadcasters regarding the Performance Right Act now being considered by Congress, spells out the provisions in the bill which would protect small broadcasters, while still providing fair compensation to the artists who provide the lifeblood of radio stations.
