This Monday’s Most Wanted artists and indie labels? YOU.

January 3rd

That’s right: this Monday’s Most Wanted (with a nod to the 2006 Time Magazine person of the year) is YOU. The artists and labels we want to sign up so they can get paid? Your family, friends, and fellow music creators.

This is a time for making New Year’s Resolutions, and we want you to put SoundExchange registration on your list. Unlike the promises to hit the gym, call your mom, recycle, or stop eating so many Wilbur buds, this resolution can be accomplished this afternoon. And it pays you back. Let’s get this done while you’re still holding to your promise not to procrastinate!

Already registered? Pass the news to a friend, fellow musician, colleague, acquaintance, old boss or favorite performing artist. We want everybody to get involved in spreading the word about SoundExchange, so that all those artists and labels who haven’t yet claimed their SoundExchange royalties can get paid.  You can be the one to tell them about this new income stream, and they’ll think of you every time they get a royalty payment. Resolution to be a better friend? Check.

Has the down economy stopped you from buying as much new music as you’d like, or getting tickets to support your favorite bands? Don’t let the hard times get you down, or hurt the indie scene – we’ll be happy to give them money! Just remind your favorite artists and labels to register with SoundExchange, and rake in the good karma without paying out a dime.  Resolution to support the music you love? Check.

Would love to help us spread the message, but don’t have the time or energy (all that going to the gym can be rough)? No problem – it’s as easy as liking us on Facebook, following our Twitter feed, and helping us send the good news to your friends and colleagues. Got a blog? Link to our site, embed/favorite our YouTube videos, or post about digital royalties and registration with SoundExchange. Resolution to be part of the digital music revolution? Check.

Make New Year’s resolution list? Check, check.  Now get to it.
