Most-Wanted Monday: A tribute to the starving artist

May 23rd

Whether it’s songwriters holed up in drafty garage apartments, or guitar players busking in the subway, the stereotypical image of the starving musician is familiar to all of us. But things are improving! We get notes back every time we send out checks, saying that our just-in-time royalty payment has paid for new winter coats, a much-needed pair of shoes, or helped someone make rent just in time.

As SoundExchange prepares another round of checks for delivery to these creative souls, we’ve compiled this week’s Most Wanted list to remind us of why these royalties make such a difference toward the creation of a musical middle class.

 CEMENT SHOES
POOR POCKET MUZIK
RANDOM HOUSE
TOP DRAWER
BOX RECORDS
LADYSLIPPER
RAMBLER
L.A. UNDERGROUND
BUNGALO RECORDS

Can you help us get some much-needed dough into these labels’ empty pockets? Please help us get them registered at www.soundexchange.com. Let’s put the stereotype of the starving artist behind us, where it belongs.
