April Harris was the leading member of iconic 90s dance group Seduction, and went on to form her own label. She now works with soul singer-songwriter Walter Christopher, and made sure that he was signed up to receive SoundExchange royalties, too.  They stopped by the SoundExchange office on the way to his new album’s release party, and had this to say about SoundExchange:

Most Wanted Monday: Classically trained and tragically unpaid

SoundExchange routinely gets reports from music services that identify “Bach” or “Beethoven” as the recording artist. Usually, that means that a classical group, symphonic society, or orchestra isn’t getting paid for their work, because the composer was reported as the performer. Other times, the recording orchestra or group is reported properly, but the group or its members have not registered with SoundExchange for their royalties.
