DC-native, Carolyn Malachi joined us for “Bring Your Child to Work Day,” this past Thursday, April 24, 2014. The 2011 GRAMMY-nominated artist shared words of inspiration and put on a short afternoon show for children and staff.
During her visit, SoundExchange President and CEO, Michael Huppe met with Carolyn to discuss her contributions to the music industry.
Malachi’s debut album released in 2008 is appropriately titled, “Revenge of the Smart Chicks,” on which she offers amazing vocal range and lyrics filled with inspiration and soul. In addition to being a recording artist, Malachi maintains a tech column in Black Enterprise magazine and partners with multiple organizations to promote global access to education. In addition, she recently sang the national anthem at the 2014 NCAA Women’s Final Four Championship game in Nashville, Tenn.
Surely, more than the “chicks” were roused from Malachi’s message yesterday to “never give up” and “follow your dreams.” She encouraged the children to explore many interests and to never shy away from their aspirations in life. “Within all adversity lies the seed of greater or equal benefit,” are the words of wisdom she shared from American author, Napoleon Hill.
