Let’s be honest – 2017 has been exhausting. So much has happened this year that it’s been tough to keep up. At least we have music.
We had mega-hits from established artists like Luis Fonsi, who worked with Daddy Yankee to give us “Despacito.” We also saw relative newcomers hit us with catchy numbers – Post Malone’s “rockstar” featuring 21 Savage, Dua Lipa’s “New Rules” and Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” come to mind.
Hip-hop/R&B became the most popular music genre in 2017. From Jay-Z’s 4:44, to “Bad and Boujee” by Migos and Future’s decision to drop albums in consecutive weeks, hip-hop consistently surprised us and satisfied our craving for good music.

Here’s a list of the best and worst that the music industry had to offer in 2017.
