It’s safe to say the podcast industry is booming, recent research shows that the industry is on track to produce more than $1 billion in advertising revenue by 2021. With this growth there is also an increase in the quality of the production of podcasts. Yet, there is one challenge that podcasters are facing, currently, there isn’t an easy way for podcasters to license label and publisher-owned music. To solve that problem, SoundExchange and SourceAudio have announced their plan to collaborate to help the rapidly growing podcast industry to secure music with fully integrated, global licenses. PodcastMusic.com will launch this content in 2020.
Currently, PodcastMusic.com offers 700,000 production and music bed tracks to the podcast community. We are launching feature music licensing in “beta” and are inviting rights owners into the platform.
“The podcast industry is rapidly growing, and this collaboration will provide SoundExchange’s music creators – both labels and publishers – with an additional way to monetize their work by making their music available on PodcastMusic.com if they choose,” said Michael Huppe, President and CEO of SoundExchange. “Our collaboration with SourceAudio will make the process of licensing music simpler through a one-stop licensing marketplace.”
Music creators looking for a new revenue stream will be able to tap into the rapidly growing podcast market by allowing podcast producers to access and license their music with the click of a button.
