How do you think the industry has evolved in the last two years?
I think the industry is much more reliant on TikTok now, and that’s good and bad. In terms of evolution, we obviously moved away from the live promotional side of it (touring, etc.), but I’m happy that we’re moving back toward it.
How would you describe your creative style?
Eclectic.
What artist or creator has most impacted your career?
I feel like there are so many influences, but I’m going to go with a cheap answer: Billie Eilish.
If you could give any advice to yourself, back when you were starting in this business, what would it be?
All these ideas that you’re insecure about are really great. Trust your instincts.
What’s the worst advice you’ve ever received and what’s the best?
The worst advice I ever received was probably something one of my parents’ friends said unsolicited when I was a kid about how to make it, because they didn’t know what they were talking about. And the best advice, my friend Ruby Hirsch’s dad, Dan Hirsch who’s a great mastermind in engineering and he told me “It matters not whether it is technically correct, it matters that you like something.”

Billie Eilish.

24-year-old Academy and multi-GRAMMY Award winning songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer and artist FINNEAS released his debut full-length album, Optimist, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and earned him a GRAMMY® Award nomination for Best New Artist. He has garnered a total of 8 GRAMMY® Awards, including the aforementioned “Producer of the Year, Non-Classical” and “Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical” in addition to “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year” for Billie’s “bad guy” and “Album of the Year” for the generation-defining WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? More recently, in 2021, he received two additional GRAMMY® Awards with Billie Eilish for ‘everything i wanted’ (Record of the Year), as well as a Best Song Written For Visual Media nomination for “No Time To Die,” the official James Bond theme song, both produced by FINNEAS. In 2022 he received an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the James Bond song No Time To Die. He has graced the covers of American Songwriter, Mix Magazine, V Man and other publications in addition to appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and “Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!,” to name a few. Along the way, he also produced music for Justin Bieber, Halsey, Demi Lovato, Kid Cudi, and Tove Lo and collaborated with the likes of Ashe and Ringo Starr. FINNEAS also scored the soundtrack to the critically acclaimed film, ‘The Fallout.’
