Title: Specialist, License Management Operations 
Department: Royalty Processing and Business Intelligence 
Job Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid:  In Office Tuesdays & Wednesdays)
Reports To: Senior Manager, License Management Operations 
Supervisory Role: No 
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

Position Summary:

The Specialist, License Management Operations provides operational support for SoundExchange and its related and applicable companies by enabling and ensuring accurate and expedient processing of royalty payments, reports of use submitted by licensees, and statements regarding royalty obligations within the License Management applications. The support generally encompasses two kinds of workflows: processing and performing quality assurance on submissions from licensees related to sound recordings or music publishing works, and providing customer service related to those submissions and businesses. The Specialist also supports the department with other projects and assignments as needed and reports directly to the Senior Manager, License Management Operations.  

Essential Functions:

  • Perform quality assurance on submissions from licensees, including but not limited to: payments, statements of account, reports of use, sales files, and similar files for our sound recording and music publishing licensing businesses
  • Process submissions from licensees in a timely fashion
  • Assist licensees with submissions via all accepted methods, such as, Email, SFTP, and an Online Portal
  • Communicate with current and prospective licensees as an educational resource regarding SoundExchange and our licensing businesses 

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs) 

  • Process experience with complex information workflows
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular)
  • Strong aptitude for working with computer systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to both convey complex information as well as effectively handle dissatisfied customers
  • Able to problem solve and work through conflicts
  • Highly organized, detail oriented, and strong follow-up skills
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple queues of work
  • An understanding of key music industry concepts related to statutory licensing preferred 

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience   

  • Post-secondary education or certification is a plus
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in the related field preferred 

ADA Specifications:

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) all of the time
  • The person in this position may need to move about the corporate office(s) less than half the time
  • This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors 

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires less than 25% travel. 

PAY RANGE:  $25.96 - $30.28
