SoundExchange Statement on Copyright Office IT Modernization Plan

SoundExchange congratulates the Copyright Office on the release of the “Provisional Information Technology Modernization Plan and Cost Analysis” (IT Plan) this week.

“The Register and her team have persistently laid out the case for and a path toward modernization of the copyright office and their IT systems. Modernizing the Copyright Office is not just about curing the current lag in IT capabilities; it is about building the systems that are necessary for today’s needs as well as preparing for the future needs of the industry.  This plan to build a flexible, cloud-based system in which pieces can be made operational as they are completed presents a logical course forward.  We appreciate the Register’s consistent effort to gather input from relevant industries, and we look forward to engaging with her and her colleagues in further discussion on these issues,” said SoundExchange President and CEO Michael Huppe.
