There’s $175K+ on the Table for SXSW 2016 Showcasing Artists

Here at SoundExchange, it’s our mission to collect and distribute every cent recording artists earn when their music is streamed by radio services so they can thrive in the digital age of music.

And while we manage more than 110,000 accounts and have paid music makers roughly $3.5 billion to date, we’re only able to distribute the hard-earned royalties to the well-deserving musicians who’ve earned them if they register to receive them.

Next week is the SXSW Music Festival, where thousands of artists will showcase their musical talent in Austin, TX. We cross-referenced our list of unregistered artists with this year’s SXSW showcasing line-up and identified 255 artists whose unclaimed royalties total more than $175K.

In the days and weeks leading up to SXSW, our Industry Relations team has been working to contact every unregistered artist showcasing at this year’s festival and tell them about their royalties awaiting collection. And for the third year in a row, we’re hosting our invite-only SoundExcHANGe event where the unregistered artists can meet with SoundExchange representatives and learn why SoundExchange membership is so important to their careers—while feasting on FREE BBQ, of course.

Just for fun, we calculated what $175K+ can buy:

• A two-year stay at a 5-star hotel in Austin
• More than 450 flights from Washington, DC to Austin
• A Platinum SXSW badge for you and 100 of your closest friends

Not exactly spare change!
