March 1, 2023 – We are happy to report that SoundExchange distributed $255.6 million in digital royalties to creators in the fourth quarter of 2022. When compared to the same period in 2021, this is an increase of 2.5%.

As the only organization designated by the U.S. government to administer the Section 114 sound recording license, SoundExchange collects and distributes non-interactive digital performance royalties to musicians and rights owners. Since 2003, SoundExchange has distributed more than $9 billion directly to more than 600,000 music creators.

From monthly distributions and mobile payment options to the lowest administrative fee in the industry and relentless advocacy on behalf of the creator community, SoundExchange continues to work to make the business of music easier, more transparent, and fairer for creators.
