October 13, 2023 – We are happy to report that SoundExchange paid out $257 million in royalties in the third quarter of 2023. When compared to the same period in 2022, this is an increase of 8%. Year-to-date, the total SX distribution payments are a total of $755 million.
As the only organization designated by the U.S. government to administer the Section 114 sound recording license, SoundExchange collects and distributes non-interactive digital performance royalties to musicians and rights owners. Since 2003, SoundExchange has distributed more than $10 billion directly to more than 650,000 music creators globally.
