August 21, 2025 – We are happy to report that SoundExchange distributed $241.5 million in digital royalties to creators in the second quarter of 2025. When combined with the $253.2 million distributed in the first quarter, this brings annual distributions for the first half of 2025 to $494.7 million.
As the only U.S. entity designated by Congress to administer the Section 114 sound recording license, SoundExchange collects and distributes these royalties to the artists and rights owners to which they are due. Since 2003, SoundExchange has distributed more than $12 billion – a milestone reached in February of this year – directly to more than 700,000 music creators.
