Position Summary:

At SoundExchange, we have re-architected and rebuilt our core enterprise software platform to support our rapidly growing and evolving business.  Our new software platform is a set of cloud-native, federated systems that are highly scalable, accurate, and modular, leveraging both custom-built and 3rd party components.  We are seeking a Quality Assurance Lead passionate about providing quality products to become a member of our growing Technology team.  This person will lead our QA team and QA strategy.  Additionally, they will have a proven track record of implementing a centralized testing program that supports multiple products.

As a member of the Technology Department, this role will work closely with Product, Engineering, Business Stakeholders, and our internal Business Development team. The success of this role depends on strong leadership skills, high levels of collaboration, and constant communication with stakeholders. The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced leader, have a deep understanding of QA best practices and processes, have a technical background, and the ability to understand business flows and data. This individual will have experience overseeing QA for multiple complex products and as well as mentoring other QAs. In this role, the ideal candidate will work closely with technical leadership, engineering, and product owners to assess, recommend, and implement a testing approach that covers manual and automated testing.

 Essential Functions:

  • Build a strategy and implementation plan for testing practices, tools, and automation across all products and platform at SoundExchange.
  • Manage and own a staffing plan for the organization’s QA needs. Manage resources and vendor relationships.
  • Develop standard practices for how new features are tested through the software development lifecycle (development, user acceptance testing, and regression testing).
  • Build and author a repository of manual and automated test cases that promotes transparency.
  • Develop a framework for implementing automated testing that can be implemented by a test team.
  • Maintain an understanding of product functionality and be able to communicate expected behavior to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Executes test cases and report test results to the scrum teams and department leadership.
  • Evaluate trends in QA test results and report metrics on how testing is progressing.  Look for opportunities to drive process improvement based on this analysis.
  • Analyze requirements and provide feedback on completeness and testability. Be able to create test data based off requirements as needed.
  • Provide accurate estimates for QA efforts including test case design/scripting, test execution, and defect correction. Oversight of allocation of QA team to meet QA needs.
  • Leverage technical expertise to oversee the develop, maintenance, and execution of automated tests.
  • Assist with building and maintaining test environments and driving their best use.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):

  • Must have hands on QA experience and experience leading teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience with Agile software development process.
  • Experience with common testing tools such as Qmetry, TestRails, Zephyr, HP ALM, etc.
  • Experience writing SQL scripts and testing Restful APIs.
  • Experience with a scripting language and/or test automation framework preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills are preferred.

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of QA leadership experience in addition to hands on testing experience.
  • Experience in the music royalty processing and/or fintech industry is a huge plus.

ADA Specifications:

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) all of the time
  • This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors

 Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires overnight domestic travel less than 25% of the time if hired outside of the Washington, DC area
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train
