Position Summary:

At SoundExchange, we have re-architected and rebuilt our core enterprise software platform to support our rapidly growing and evolving business.  Our new software platform is a set of cloud-native, federated systems that are highly scalable, accurate, and modular, leveraging both custom-built and 3rd party components.  We are seeking an individual to become a member of our growing Technology team and manage a set of our Tech Strategy and Planning efforts.  This person will be an experienced leader that excels in a dynamic, fast-moving, agile environment and is passionate about developing high quality, scalable software.

The Manager will be working closely with the Engineering and Product teams to help facilitate delivery of platform solutions and enhancements for our royalty distribution platform.  The Manager will help oversee technical governance, program management, budget management, capacity planning, executive reporting, and vendor management. 

The Manager will assist with identifying overall areas of process improvement and best practices.  This person will also be working with the technical strategy and planning team to prioritize, develop and roll out these improvements across the Technology department.  As needed, the Manager will interface with our business development team to help shape opportunities, provide input on technical feasibility and cost estimates for the technical aspects of the work.  

Reporting to the Senior Director of Tech Strategy and Planning, the ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of project and program management concepts, practices, and processes.  The candidate will also have considerable leadership experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  

Essential Functions:

  • Support and contribute to the Technology Department’s ongoing transition towards a product centric approach to software development.
  • Support the Senior Director of Tech Strategy and Planning with the implementation of a strategy for effective technical governance, alignment to corporate goals, and executive reporting.
  • Establish or improve processes and best practices for financial management, executive reporting, technical governance, QA practices, requirements processes, and agile methodologies.
  • Manage cross-product milestones, roadmaps, and dependencies.  Align these roadmaps to strategic goals and effectively communicate these roadmaps to stakeholders to ensure cross-team collaboration.
  • Support the management and oversight of budget and capacity planning, and vendor management.
  • As needed, support the business development team with shaping opportunities, providing input on technical feasibility and cost estimates for the technical aspects of the work
  • Lead by example in developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders in other functional areas; build and support a culture of collaboration and teamwork.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, people growth, and expectation management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office tools, Jira/Confluence, roadmap development, plan management.

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7 years of experience in IT program and project management.
  • Has been a Program Manager, Project Manager, and has experience managing teams.
  • Experience in the music and/or fintech industry is a huge plus.

ADA Specifications:

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) all of the time.
  • This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors.

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires overnight domestic travel less than 25% of the time (for non-DC based employees).
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train.
