Title: Associate Director, Communications and Content Strategy
Department: Communications

Position Summary:
The Associate Director, Communications and Content Strategy is responsible for strengthening creator relationships through communications and content strategy. This person works closely with senior management to understand and convey the SoundExchange story as the organization continues to evolve, expand its offerings, and undergo a long-view business transformation.

This individual is comfortable working across teams in hybrid and virtual environments, serving as a liaison for communications across the marketing, industry relations, business development, and global public policy teams. This individual leads staff to support communications initiatives and reports to the Vice President, Communications.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with Business leaders to execute a strategy across all platforms that helps build and engage with the SoundExchange community
  • Support Business Development and VP of Communications with Community Marketplace vertical and market offerings to SoundExchange creators
  • Ensure that SoundExchange messaging is consistent across all digital platforms and verticals.
  • Works with Technology, Marketing, and Industry Relations to build out the creator hub and provide access to educational content
  • Develop educational pillar for SoundExchange, including artist-driven content, music business content, and content designed for Music Business programs
  • Monitor and analyze content metrics across all platforms, optimizing strategies to maximize impact. Regularly provides insight to leadership on community trends, challenges and opportunities.
  • Supports the SVP, Communications and Executive Office and SVP, Global Public Policy on SX advocacy efforts
  • Supervise and manage a team of two employees
  • Handles special projects and other communications-related duties as assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to manage across multiple departments with key stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with varied audiences
  • Experience developing and implementing effective communication plans and strategies and working with senior leaders
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to navigate a fluid and dynamic environment with multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Close attention to detail and quality
  • Digital and social media experience, with ability to adapt to new platforms
  • A passion for music and creators
  • Keen understanding of current news landscape
  • Tech and social media savvy
  • Music or entertainment industry experience preferred but not necessary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Highest levels of ethics, work ethic, and engagement
  • Experience in communications in the music or entertainment industry is a plus

Required Education, Certifications/ Licenses, Related Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, Master’s degree or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Eight to ten years of experience in a related field required

ADA Specifications:

  • This position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (standing and/or seated) all of the time
  • The person in this position may need to move about the corporate office(s) less than half the time
  • This position operates machinery and/or equipment that requires the constant use of hands/fingers/wrists (ex: typing, etc.) all of the time
  • This position requires the ability to spend all of the time viewing computer monitors
  • The person in this position must be able to identify and distinguish between colors more than half the time

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires overnight domestic travel less than 25% of the time
  • Anticipated travel will be by car, air, and/or train
  • If hired remote, this person is expected to travel to the Washington DC corporate office as needed (approx. 3-4 times per year)

 

PAY RANGE:  $173,400  - $188,370
