MUSIC FIGHTS FRAUD ALLIANCE ELECTS NEW LEADERS AND WELCOMES 12 NEW MEMBERS

April 15, 2026 — The Music Fights Fraud Alliance (MFFA), the music industry’s united coalition to fight fraud and develop anti-fraud solutions, recently welcomed 12 new member companies, announced new leadership, and expanded its mission to address publishing-specific fraud as the nonprofit organization continues to expand to address fraud across the industry.

Having more than doubled its membership since 2025–to more than 35 organizations across the global music supply chain– the Alliance now reflects a significant share of the world’s digital music traffic, enabling a more sophisticated and unified approach to mitigate and deter suspicious and fraudulent activity.

“Our success is dependent on being as inclusive and as reflective of the music industry as possible. As we continue to grow and expand our reach, the Alliance is better positioned to deliver solutions that strengthen the supply chain and protect all creators and rights holders.” Michael Lewan, Executive Director of the Music Fights Fraud Alliance

New Leadership for the Global Fight

To guide member growth and expansion, the Alliance announced its new elected leaders who will help govern the nonprofit organization this year. Stephen White, Chief Product Officer at EMPIRE, will serve as Chair, and Darren Owen, Chief Operating Officer at FUGA, was elected as Treasurer. Portia Sabin, President of the Music Business Association, and Patra Sinner, General Counsel at Symphonic, will continue to serve respectively as Vice Chair and Secretary.

“I am honored to step into the role of Chair and build on the continued success of the Alliance. Our strength lies in our collective commitment of collaboration, and I look forward to working alongside this talented leadership team and all the member companies to ensure the music ecosystem remains fair, secure, and transparent.” Stephen White, Chief Product Officer, EMPIRE

Strengthening the Ranks with New Members

The new leadership team will oversee the Alliance’s most significant growth to date, welcoming 12 new members who represent a diverse cross-section of the industry, reflecting the importance of stakeholders coming together as a comprehensive coalition in the fight against bad actors.

The new members are ASCAP, Believe Music Publishing, Ditto, GEMA, GYROGroup, ICE Services, Limbo Music, Roc Nation Distribution, SOCAN, Songtrust, SonoSuite, and SoundExchange.

“SoundExchange was built to make music royalties more accurate, efficient, and transparent—and that mission is directly threatened by streaming fraud,” said Michael Huppe, President and CEO of SoundExchange. “By joining the Music Fights Fraud Alliance, we’re partnering with peers across the ecosystem to share insights, raise standards, and help ensure legitimate creators aren’t left paying the price for illegitimate activity.”

By joining the Music Fights Fraud Alliance, we’re not just protecting our own catalog—we’re standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the global music community to ensure that every stream and every creator is shielded from bad actors.” Caitlin Stubner, Head of Songtrust.

“ROC NATION Distribution is aligned with the mission to keep revenue in the hands of artists. We look forward to collaborating with coalition members committed to advancing transparency, accountability, and innovation across the industry.” Krystian Santini, President, ROC NATION Distribution.

“We are delighted to join the MFFA and support their important mission of collectively working towards a global music market that is fair for all. We look forward to working with our fellow members to share knowledge and partner on initiatives that will benefit the wider industry.” Rachael Naylor, COO, ICE Services.

“Streaming fraud undermines trust in the global music market by diverting value away from real creators. Since fraud doesn’t stop at national borders, strong international collaboration and shared best practices are key to strengthening the global music rights ecosystem. GEMA is committed to taking a strong and proactive role as a trusted partner in a rapidly evolving international landscape, always acting in the best interest of its members and the wider community of rightsholders. By joining the MFFA, we can detect and reduce streaming fraud more effectively — and make sure our members receive the revenues and fair remuneration they deserve.” Thomas Theune, Director Broadcasting and Online at GEMA.

“Streaming fraud directly impacts independent artists and labels by diverting revenue away from where it belongs. By collaborating through the MFFA, we can help ensure more money reaches genuine creators and support a healthier, more sustainable music ecosystem.” Shaun Little, Director of Operations, Ditto Music.
