SoundExchange Named Winner of 2021 Top Workplaces USA Award

WASHINGTON, D.C.—January 28, 2021—SoundExchange announced today that it has been named a recipient of Energage’s 2021 Top Workplaces USA award. Top Workplaces USA offers national recognition for large organizations, those with more than 150 employees, and those that may have operations in multiple markets. Winners of the Top Workplaces USA list are chosen based solely on employee feedback gathered through an employee engagement survey.

“I am honored that SoundExchange has been named in the Top Workplaces USA awards. That we have been recognized at a time of extreme health, economic, and logistical challenges for companies worldwide makes the recognition even more profound,” said Michael Huppe, SoundExchange President and CEO. “We owe this achievement to our staff, who make SoundExchange an incredible organization, and to the culture we’ve built that has enabled our team to adapt and persevere in our mission during these most difficult of times.”

In addition to being recognized as a national top workplace, SoundExchange received accolades in the Nonprofit category, as well as in the Culture Excellence category for Communication.

Based in Washington, D.C., SoundExchange has 180 employees spread around the country in cities such as Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and New York City. SoundExchange’s combination of technologies, systems, and expertise helps creators eliminate the friction so they can focus on the music. The company has distributed more than $7 billion in digital performance royalties to recording artists and rights owners since its inception in 2003.

Energage’s Top Workplaces program relies on its 14-year history of surveying more than 20 million employees across 54 markets for its annual regional awards. Top Workplaces honoree results are calculated by comparing the survey’s research-based statements, including 15 culture drivers that are proven to predict high performance against industry benchmarks.

“It’s companies like SoundExchange that are moving the modern-day workplace forward and creating value and meaning for their employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “We need more organizations like this as we look to the future.”
