Paul Shaver

Senior Vice President, Business Development

Paul Shaver leads Business Development at SoundExchange. In this role, he leads efforts to identify strategic growth opportunities, develop partnerships, and expand the organization’s impact across the music ecosystem. He also helps shape SoundExchange’s approach to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, as the organization evolves to meet the future needs of creators and rights owners.

A respected music industry leader with more than three decades of experience across music publishing, recorded music, rights administration, data services, and technology, Shaver joins SoundExchange from the Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA), where he served as President of both CMRRA and SX Works. During his tenure, he expanded global client relationships, strengthened data and administration capabilities, and helped drive increased value for music publishers and songwriters.

Shaver’s career includes senior roles at Nielsen Entertainment, Universal Music Group, EMI/Capitol Music, and Virgin Records. He also served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA), and board member of The Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC). In recognition of his influence in the industry and at CMRRA, Paul was named to the Billboard Canada Power Players list in 2024 and in 2026.
